The International Criminal Court (ICC) has confirmed 39 charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity against Joseph Kony, the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebel group. The charges, confirmed on Thursday in absentia, include murder, rape, sexual slavery, forced pregnancy, and the use of child soldiers, all allegedly committed between 2002 and 2005 in northern Uganda.
The ruling follows hearings held in September at The Hague, where judges reviewed submissions from the prosecution, defense, and victim representatives.
