Hush money at home breeds corruption, says MACC chief
Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Director Mohamad Zakkuan Talib warns that seemingly minor acts of bribery serve as corruption's foundation and threaten future generations. Parents must teach honesty from childhood and reject normalizing hush money or favoritism through connections, he stated on Sunday following the Desa Bebas Rasuah 2025 program at Dataran KAMARA in Kampung Malaysia Raya. Corruption begins with small compromises that gradually gain acceptance rather than starting in corporate settings, Mohamad Zakkuan explained. Public trust erodes when students purchase exam answers or village leaders accept bribes, he added. The MACC relies on community involvement to build integrity-focused generations despite its...
DAP eyes extra Sabah seats despite past betrayals
DAP will defend its six previously held seats in the upcoming Sabah state election, and Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook announced the party will contest one or two additional constituencies. The party won six of seven contested seats in the 16th Sabah election, but two representatives from Elopura and Sri Tanjong defected to Parti Warisan in 2022. Loke expressed confidence in replacement leaders, and he noted that party constitution clauses and the Anti-Party Hopping Law protect against future defections by triggering automatic seat loss and mandatory by-elections. The secretary-general said incumbency will form the primary basis for negotiations between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional ahead of the state election. DAP...

Malaysia wants you swimming in sewage-filled Klang River
Sahabat Sungai Malaysia president Prof Datuk Seri Dr Zaini Ujang said the Klang River could become a recreational swimming destination through sustained restoration work, and he proposed using river bathing as a practical cleanliness metric. Zaini argued that bathability provides simpler assessment criteria than biochemical measurements when determining water quality standards for public understanding. He emphasized that making the Klang and Langat Rivers safe for recreation requires pollution source identification, and he called for improved riverbank infrastructure to attract visitors. Household maintenance of drainage systems and septic tank connections to public sewerage networks represents the foundation of river protection...

Federal Territories Mufti Ahmad Fauwaz Fadzil warned Muslims against making statements that diminish Prophet Muhammad's dignity after a Facebook post compared environmental activist Greta Thunberg's autism to the Prophet's characteristics. Ahmad Fauwaz called on those responsible for the controversial social media content to withdraw their remarks, and he urged them to repent for their actions. He acknowledged...
