Hip Hop music rap group Migos (Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff) are currently suing Damien Granderson for malpractice because they claim they were cheated out of millions of dollars in their deal with Quality Control Music (a record label started in 2013 by Kevin "Coach K" Lee and Pierre "Pee" Thomas). As of recent Pierre "Pee" Thomas responded to the ongoing issue about the Migos and Damien Granderson via an IG post saying:

It is unfortunate that the same people that we have worked hard for, provided opportunities for, and championed for are now alleging that we have participated in any kind of immoral or unfair business practices or took advantage of them and their careers, especially while we are dealing with the death of an artist on our label that was dear to us.

We have always practiced honest business and complete transparency from the beginning when we started Quality Control Music. We built this business on family values, which has been so hard to do when you are dealing with so much pride and ego.

The problem that I have been struggling with, in this business as a black man is jealousy, hate, division, and lack of communication. I was a millionaire before I got in the music business and for me to know the sacrifices I have made for the people that I have invested in and put every dollar, blood, sweat, and tears into is nonsense.

I will not stand by and let Quality Control Music’s reputation and everything we have built and sacrificed be tarnished by allegations of unfair and unjust business practices. I am a student of this game and I have watched several black record label owners get destroyed by the same things that I am facing right now. This is why the majority of the people in this business end up in financial turmoil and ultimately failing to reach their full potential.

It is hard enough to be fighting and battling with corporations and the powers that be, I am not doing it with those who I consider family. I love my artists and I love my team. Everyone has their own lawyers. I understand in this business that you are not always going to end with the people you started with.

I say that to say, I am not forcing anybody to be in business with us that has a problem and cannot communicate and does not want to work as a unit. Everything is negotiable. I wish my whole team more money, more blessings, and continued success

That’s crazy.

So does that mean the Migos want to leave Kevin "Coach K" Lee and Pierre "Pee" Thomas (Quality Control Music)? ???

I still can't believe in 2020 Hip Hop rappers (or music recording artists), in general, haven't learned from the artists who came before them.

Rule #1Always have your own entertainment lawyer before entering into a music business agreement.
Rule #2Make sure you fully understand and are fully satisfied with any contract you are about to sign.
Rule #3Never let a record label lawyer or anyone affiliated with your record label review your contracts.

Finally, I'll just say there is way too much info out there to still be making these kinds of mistakes.

I can't wait for the next "Joe Budden Podcast" episode and hear his opinion about this matter.

BTW, Is this the main reason Migos haven't released the "Culture 3" studio album?

This isn’t surprising to me! This is why you need to hire lawyers of your own to read over your record deal contracts.

I was thinking the same but Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff they were young when they signed the record contract. They probably didn't know any better.

Can someone fill me in, what's really going on between Damien Granderson, Pee, Coach K, and Migos?

The lawsuit being filed by Migos is that QCM (Quality Control Music) was siphoning money from the Migos under the guise of incurring music distribution costs when in actuality, music distribution for all QCM produced albums were handled by Capitol Records (a subsidiary of Universal Music Group).

So perhaps a part of the argument is: QCM took money for work they didn’t even do or that they should have made the Migos fully aware of the exclusive deal they had with Capitol Records.

Who discovered the Migos in the first place? Isn't it both Coach K and Pee Thomas?

And wouldn't y'all oans conclude to say this is a classic example of biting the hand that feeds?

Quality Control Music didn't discover the Migos but instead, Gucci Mane (Radric Delantic Davis) brought them to Coach K and Pee Thomas.

Maybe... and even if they do, Quality Control Music is now an established music brand with recording artists like City Girls, Lil Baby, and Lil Yachty.

Nevertheless, I can foresee Migos as a group breaking up and each one of them (Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff) becoming full-time solo rap artists.

So are there any other artists who have ever had issues with Pee Thomas and Coach K?

Yes, Rich the Kid (Dimitri Roger) left QCM to form his own label Rich Forever. And Skippa Da Flippa (Kevin Purnell) at one point in time called Coach K a "50-year-old hater."

Joe Budden on Everyday Struggle Interview with Lil Yatchy (Miles McCollum) called Capital Records trash.

I would also imagine this is what later on down the line ignited the beef between Joe Budden and Quality Control.
