mangoma

means local Zimdaansaal myuuzik produced in the Republic of Zimbabwe; however, this may sometimes also be used as a general umbrella term for foreign Dancehall, Soca, Dub, and of course, Reggae music.

Etymology

Ngoma in chiShona (or Chivanhu) means "drum," whilst mangoma is a plural form to say "drums." Another synonym for mangoma is machuni, and that's quite frankly a Shonglish term that translates into the English language as either dancehall tunes or dancehall songs, and by the way, chuni is the singular form thereof.

Example usage

"Ayehwa ka! Udzayi uyo deejay aridze mangoma. Obvisa iyo myuuzik yema salad taneta nayo purizi."
