ngoma
means lean or a central nervous system depressant cough syrup that contains codeine (an opiate) and in this context, it's consumed for recreational purposes instead of medical use.
Etymology
Ngoma pronunciation is slightly similar to a formal chiShona word spelled the same as ngoma which basically means drum or a Zimdancehall riddim in the context of slang, that is. However, with the former, you have to drag the letter "O" and that is to say: NGO-ohh-ma instead of just saying NGO-ma.
I will add on to say when people consume ngoma they will religiously avoid drinking any alcoholic beverage because drinking ngoma and beer or liquor is simply a highway to the nearest graveyard, in other words, lean and alcohol is like fire and gasoline to your organs and hopefully, you have life insurance.
