small house (mainini), and big house (maiguru) are descriptive words given to women based on their relationship status with a man whom they are entangled with, in a love triangle.

First of all, a big house (sometimes called maiguru, or vahosi) means she is either the legally married woman or the main chick if she is still engaged, dating, or whatever the relationship status may be.

On the other hand, a small house (otherwise also known as mainini) is a mistress with whom the man is having an extra-marital relationship, situationship, fling, etc; so she's basically his side piece (or side chick), m'kay.

Example usage

Person 1: "Varume vazhinji vanonyeya vakadzi vavo kuma small house iyo yongogadzirisa zvikushorwa."
Person 2: "Idi chairo, mainini votoita sevari perfect but vanewo maflaws avo se big house yadzikisirwa pasi."
