vanenge vabvunzwa naniko

this popular Shona expression means "Who would've asked them?" or "Who would've consulted them?", and common usage of this phrase is mostly in response to airheaded social media personalities who tend to write shallow think-pieces — on the Gram — whilst making a miserable attempt to come across as if they've profound wisdom, and at certain times as though they're the overlords of all creation who are above criticism.

I suppose it goes without saying social media platforms have led to many people getting into arguments with strangers and feeling superior to those with differing opinions. Worse still, folks talking about subject material they aren't experts on e.g., financial markets, geopolitics and etc. Anyway, let me end this by saying they ain't anything wrong with sharing your thoughts but sometimes you've got to think before you tweet, you know. And if you don't you will be a foolish fool to make a fool out of yourself.

Note: Another sarcastic variant of the aforementioned expression is kungodawo kunzi vataura and that means — "All they want to accomplish is to hear their own voice."
