The Syrians still in their country spent Friday remembering people who died. They held special events to think about everyone lost in the 13-year war and under al-Assad's rule.

When the fighting began in 2011, people started leaving Syria. But things changed on December 8, when al-Assad fell from power. This made many think about going home. Turkey's Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that out of all the people going back, almost one-third were born in Turkey.

The Turkish government wants to help more people return if they want to. They told the Syrians they could travel between both countries three times in early 2025. Turkey plans to open a new office in Aleppo to help people move. Most of the Syrians who live in Turkey come from Aleppo. President Erdogan also said Turkey will open a special office there soon to help people with papers and other needs.
