Silvanus Osoro, the Majority Chief Whip, talked about his deep bond with Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi last Friday. He sees her more as a mom than a fellow lawmaker, which makes him respect her deeply. The South Mugirango MP shared that Elachi rescued him from street life when he was seven after his parents died. She played a key role in raising him into the person he became. When Osoro needed someone to take his mother's place at his wedding, Elachi stepped up. He values her as family and a constant support. Even when they disagree on issues, she helps guide him through challenges. Osoro shared these thoughts during the memorial service for Elachi's son Elvis Namenya at Holy Trinity Church in Kileleshwa. Osoro stays quiet during heated debates if Elachi sits across from him in Parliament. He mentioned that Governor Johnson Sakaja calls him to calm down but doesn't know the real secret. If Sakaja simply asked Elachi to step in, Osoro would either stop talking or leave the discussion completely out of respect for her. Many lawmakers came together at the church service to support Elachi as everyone remembered her son. Elvis died in a car crash on March 25, 2025. He studied in his final year at Africa Nazarene University, where people knew him as kind, generous, and hardworking. His life ended just months before his planned June graduation. At the memorial, Elachi thanked everyone for their prayers and support for her family. She stressed the importance of faith and asked young people to seek God's protection every day. Despite her clear grief, she urged young adults always to tell their parents where they plan to go. Elachi revealed her son died because his car tire suddenly burst. She encouraged youth to keep talking with their parents about their lives and problems. Elachi said Elvis will forever remain her testimony and that her family finds strength through prayer. She added that young people should always let parents know their whereabouts, even when handling problems by themselves.
