Abeiku Santana says he often struggles to reach his boss at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). The deputy chief, whose full name is Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, raised the issue in a letter to the minister who oversees tourism. His main concern is getting prompt input from CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto on urgent work. Apparently, his bids to meet her have not gone well. He says he has tried to book talks through her secretary and aide, but he keeps hearing that she is busy. While he accepts that her role comes with a lot of work, he feels the long waits affect his duties. And his job covers quite a bit. He handles local tourism, special events, and marketing tasks. Some of that work calls for quick approval from the chief, along with close contact with groups outside the agency. He fears the delays could slow key plans. But Santana does not see this as a personal feud. His point is that both offices need a better way to share updates and make choices on urgent tasks. He wants the minister to help fix the gaps in how they talk. There is a catch, though. Any steps taken to sort out the issue should have the GTA board chair's full knowledge, he says. He has made it clear that he still wants to work well with Houadjeto and other senior staff. As for how bad the delays have been, his letter gives no hard figures. He did not name any projects that had stalled or state how much work had been held up. His focus remains on making it easier for both offices to get things done.
