Actress Tatyana Vilkina Dies at 50 From Heart Failure

Police found actress Tatyana Vilkina dead in her Moscow apartment on Bolshoy Tishinsky Lane. Her father, Alexander Vilkin, who runs Cherry Orchard Theatre, confirmed her passing. Medical personnel said acute heart failure caused her death, according to the TASS news agency. She came from an acting family - her mother, Olga Shirokova, performed at Cherry Orchard Theatre as an Honored Artist of Russia.

Born in Moscow in 1973, Vilkina followed family tradition after graduating from Shchukin School. She worked at Moscow Drama Theater Et Cetera before joining Cherry Orchard Theatre, where her mother acted. Her aunt Natalya Vilkina also earned recognition as an Honored Artist. Tatyana first appeared on screen selling ice cream in Retro Vtroem, directed by Pyotr Todorovsky, back in 1998.

Though her acting career included just seven films, Vilkina expanded into writing screenplays later in life. She created scripts for documentary films, including Valery Rubinchik's Space in 2007. Four years later, she wrote Valery Zolotukhin's From Portal to Portal for the Islands documentary series. Her filmography remained small despite her theater background.
