African Space Agency sets up shop in Cairo

Egypt started the African Space Agency at its Space City in Cairo. The country worked hard to create this agency, which matches the African Union's plans. Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said it will help African nations work together on peaceful space activities. Countries can share knowledge, build skills, and speak as one voice at international meetings. The agency will partner with research groups, universities, and other space organizations worldwide.

Egyptian Space Agency leader Sherif Sedky called this a major achievement for Africa. He believes the agency will inspire new ideas and teamwork across the continent. A Chinese satellite company representative named Huan Yiheng thinks this creates good business opportunities. His company wants to join projects with African countries through this new agency. The African Space Agency will manage space partnerships between Africa and places like Europe.

The agency aims to improve space missions throughout Africa and ensure everyone has better access to space data and services. The African Union picked Egypt to host this agency in 2019. Egypt met all the political and technical requirements needed for the job.
