The Hawks, South Africa's elite crime-fighting unit, just dropped a bombshell. They've opened four separate cases of high treason. Why? Apparently, some folks have been spreading bogus information about South Africa's Expropriation Act in the United States. Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya, the head honcho at the Hawks, spilled the beans to the SABC. He said different people from different political parties filed the complaints. "They're talking about individuals who might've hopped across the border to go and say some stuff that could be seen as high treason," Lebeya explained. When asked if the people in question are part of AfriForum, a lobby group, Lebeya played it coy. He wouldn't name names or organizations. But he did say that some complainants have pointed fingers at certain groups for pushing an agenda that sounds a lot like treason. Lebeya mentioned the Hawks are on the case, but it's still early days. They're teaming up with the National Prosecuting Authority to investigate. Lately, AfriForum and Solidarity have been in the hot seat. Political parties and regular folks have accused them of treason. These organizations have been criticizing the Expropriation Act. They even recently visited the White House to lobby the Trump administration. Flip Buys, the chairperson of the Solidarity Movement, and Jaco Kleynhans, the head of international liaison, led the charge. Kallie Kriel, CEO of AfriForum, and Dr. Dirk Hermann, CEO of Solidarity, were also along for the ride. They wanted to highlight human rights abuses against Afrikaners and take aim at the ANC's reckless policies and shoddy leadership. The group asked the US to recognize Afrikaners as a cultural community. They want more support to build the infrastructure Afrikaners need to live their best lives in southern Africa - freely, safely, and with plenty of cash in their pockets.
