APC pulls the plug on Sen Utazi after party drama

APC officials in the Uzo-Uwani local government area suspended Senator Chuka Utazi for working against the party's interests. The former two-term senator, who left the PDP to join the APC earlier this year, faces serious accusations from party leaders. They claim he attended PDP meetings and publicly supported Enugu State Governor Peter Mba for another term in 2027. He reportedly spoke negatively about the APC Enugu State chapter during interviews.

Party officials said they had online videos proving these claims against Utazi. The local government set up a three-person committee on April 8 to look into the matter. They invited Utazi to defend himself, but he never showed up. After checking all the evidence, the committee found him guilty of actions harmful to the APC.

The disciplinary group called his behavior disappointing and inappropriate for an APC member. They recommended indefinite suspension as punishment. On April 12, local government executives agreed with this decision after reviewing everything, including video proof. The suspension letter went to State Chairman Barr Ugochukwu Agballah and was copied to Science Minister Chief Uche Nnaji, who leads the party in Enugu State.
