Apple takes $250B hit from Trump tariffs

Trump's new tariffs have caused many problems for Apple's supply chain in different countries. The company lost $250 billion in just one day because of them. Apple will probably have to raise the prices of its products unless it can avoid paying the tariffs. Experts think Apple's profits for the year could drop by a huge $33 billion.

The new tariffs are set up so that Apple has little chance of getting out of them. No matter what Apple does, it will probably lose money. If it tries to pay the extra costs itself and does not raise prices, it won't make as much money. But if it raises prices, people might not want to buy as much, which would also hurt profits.

Experts at Morgan Stanley think Apple could lose around $33 billion. The good news is that Apple already made some iPhones before the tariffs started. That means it can wait a little while before raising prices. Even though Apple promised to invest a lot of money in the U.S., it still might not be able to avoid the tariffs.

Analysts say there's only a 1 in 5 chance Apple can avoid paying the tariffs. The way they're set up makes it really hard. Another expert, Ming-Chi Kuo, thinks Apple's profits could drop by about 9 percent. He says making more iPhones in India could help, but only if India and other countries don't have to pay the tariffs. Right now, it's not looking very likely that will happen.

Apple is in a tough spot because of these new tariffs. The company will probably lose a lot of money no matter what it does. Experts are trying to figure out ways Apple can improve, but it's still going to be really hard. We'll have to wait and see what happens and how much it hurts Apple's business.
