People say David Greenhalgh helped catch Dr. Kizza Besigye in Nairobi on November 16, 2024. Friends tell us that Greenhalgh, who sells guns, made Besigye think they would meet about weapons. Then he gave Besigye to Uganda's security people. "Greenhalgh might tell stories against Besigye," a friend said. We will see if he does." Ugandan leaders say they caught Besigye and his friend Obeid Lutale at 108 Riverside Apartments in Nairobi. The leaders did not say who helped them catch Besigye, but many people pointed at Greenhalgh. We tried to talk to Greenhalgh but could not find him. The government says Besigye, Lutale, and Captain Denis Oola tried to make plans to attack Uganda. Besigye's wife, Winnie, told everyone what happened. She said the stranger talked with Besigye about guns. Before Besigye could say, "We don't need this," someone knocked on the door. People came in and grabbed Besigye, but the person with guns ran away. Last year, UK police said Greenhalgh sold guns to places where fighting happens, like Libya and Syria. Officials say President Museveni learned about a man who sells guns and wanted to meet him. This man said he knew important things about keeping Uganda safe. Museveni said yes to the meeting at his farm. During their talk, the man told Museveni that Besigye wanted to attack the government with guns and angry people. He also said Besigye looked for money to buy things like flying machines to attack Museveni's helicopter. "President Museveni did not feel surprised," a friend said. "Besigye tried to attack his government before." Museveni asked the gun seller, "Do you have proof?" The visitor said, "Yes, Mr. President." He showed Museveni all the talking he did with Besigye on the tapes. On the tapes, people hear Besigye asking for flying machines to attack a helicopter. Some people say these tapes are fake, but Ugandan leaders say they checked and the tapes are real. The visitor agreed to help Uganda security people catch Besigye. Since Besigye already knew this man, they made a trap. Before Besigye went to Kenya for a book event, he talked to the man again. Besigye took a morning airplane to Nairobi. Security people watched him from when he left Uganda until he reached Kenya. Besigye rode in a taxi from the airport to the Waridi Paradise Hotel. The rooms there cost about $80. A few hours later, Besigye and his friend Obeid went in a taxi to 108 Riverside Apartments. The Obeid family has helped Besigye for more than twenty years. They arrived at the apartments between 4:30 and 5:00 in the afternoon. After checking in, they went to a room someone had booked one hour earlier. Later, a man driving a dark car came to the apartments. Besigye and Lutale were talking with the man who sells guns when Uganda soldiers rushed into the room. They pushed Besigye and Lutale into the waiting car and drove them to Kampala. Then they put them in Makindye Military Barracks.
