Police across Zimbabwe have started a major crackdown on fake product makers working from hidden locations. These illegal factories create drinks with false labels that promise better health or increased sexual ability. Many companies throughout Harare faced shutdowns after officers secured permission from courts to destroy their products. This problem extends beyond Zimbabwe's borders into many African nations. Law enforcement agencies throughout the continent struggle against these dangerous manufacturing operations daily. Nigeria recently took strong action when authorities closed the Cemetery Market in Aba, Abia State, for the second time in two years. Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, who leads the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, described their actions as extremely important for public safety. Her team found and seized counterfeit foods and drinks valued at five billion Naira. The Nigerian operation discovered 240 small illegal factories making fake products under dirty conditions. These makeshift plants used bad chemicals, unsafe water, and old bottles to create copies of famous brands, including Hennessy, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Peak Milk, and Hollandia Yoghurt. Professor Adeyeye explained that these criminals put harmful substances into their fake products. Many alcoholic beverages contain cheap sugars instead of proper ingredients like fruits or grapes. Teams destroyed 1,500 boxes of counterfeit goods right at the location during the raid. The street value of everything seized reached approximately five billion Naira. Investigators also located three storage buildings filled with outdated Hollandia Yoghurt products. Professor Adeyeye thanked Governor Alex Otti and local officials for helping with the successful operation. She asked Nigerian citizens to stay alert and report any suspicious products to nearby government offices.
