Ebrima Jarra was taken to the Kanifing Magistrate Court last Monday. Principal Magistrate Sallah M'bai was in charge. Ebrima is accused of doing bad things with drugs. The court said that on September 6, 2024, Ebrima had 497mg of cannabis resin in Dippa Kunda. Cannabis resin is not allowed. He also had twenty-six tablets of ecstasy without permission. This is against the law. Ebrima said he did not do these things. The person trying to prove he did it asked for more time to find people who saw what happened. They said Ebrima could go home if he paid money and found two people to promise he would come back to court. Principal Magistrate Sallah M'bai said Ebrima could go home. He has to pay D400,000.00 and find two people from The Gambia who will give the court D200,000 each. They also have to show their ID cards or passports and give their phone numbers. Ebrima will come back to court on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Another man named Lamin Jarjue was also taken to the same court. Principal Magistrate Sallah M'bai was in charge of his case too. Lamin is also accused of doing bad things with drugs. The court said that on October 9, 2024, Lamin had 100 grams of cannabis sativa in Bakau. Cannabis sativa is not allowed. Lamin said he did not do it. The person trying to prove he did it asked for more time to find people who saw what happened. They said Lamin could go home if he paid money and found two people to promise he would come back to court. Principal Magistrate Sallah M'bai said Lamin could go home. He has to pay D100,000 and find two people from The Gambia who will make a special promise. They also have to show their ID cards or passports. Lamin will return to court on March 12, 2025, to prove whether he did the wrong thing.
