Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders blame other political groups for trying to push back the next national vote. The accused parties want a new voting system called Proportional Representation and demand local elections happen first. BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas says these demands make no sense. He claims the real goal is stopping the national election from taking place on time. Abbas made these comments after Islami Andolon Bangladesh held a big rally in Dhaka. The Islamic group gathered thousands of supporters at Suhrawardy Udyan two days earlier. Rally speakers pushed for major government changes and the PR voting method. Islami Andolon chief Reazul Karim told the crowd that PR elections remain the only choice for fair democracy. Several smaller religious and political parties joined the rally to back these ideas. The group also presented sixteen specific demands to the interim government. BNP officials see a hidden plot behind these election demands. Abdul Moyeen Khan says PR supporters work against what regular people actually want. Another party leader warns the new system could bring back dictatorship to Bangladesh. The opposition fears someone wants to create chaos and stop the vote from happening. They worry about other disruptive demands that might surface later. The interim government has not responded to a joint statement from June meetings. BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman met with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus in London that month. Their agreement suggested holding elections before Ramadan 2026 if reforms move forward smoothly. Some political observers believe foreign forces might be working to delay the democratic process through these complicated voting system changes.
