The new district boss James Ayamwego just declared war against illegal miners across Bawku West. He gave them exactly seven days to fix all the damaged land or face serious jail time. His tough new stance came during his first major work trip since becoming the top official. Security council members joined him as he marched through problem areas where miners had been destroying everything. The team started their investigation at Teshie village where mining had gotten completely out of control. Ayamwego found mining operations right next to the chief's palace and local health center. Miners had dug dangerous holes near the main church and busy market area. Houses and walking paths suffered major damage from all the digging and dirty water. Public bathrooms became unusable because of mining waste flowing everywhere. Blocked water channels created terrible flooding that could spread deadly diseases through the community. The district leader ordered every illegal miner to start cleaning up immediately or get arrested. He asked the Teshie chief to work with local government and rally young people for cleanup efforts. Another traditional ruler from Sapeliga village also cracked down hard on mining criminals. Chief Alasbuudi Emmanuel Abangiba Ayagiba II told miners to register properly with mineral authorities and follow environmental rules. Anyone caught mining near water sources or homes would face immediate arrest and court prosecution. Ayamwego visited seven different villages to see how bad the environmental damage had become. He promised residents that his administration would fight hard to protect their land and keep everyone healthy and safe.
