Benjani Mwaruwari Mourns Beloved Tshabangu

Benjani Mwaruwari is sad about Madodana "Horsepower" Tshabangu's death. Tshabangu died in South Africa on Monday. He was 67 years old.

Mwaruwari said Tshabangu was a hero. He brought people together through sports. He helped the community in Bulawayo.

Tshabangu made it possible for local players to be seen. He inspired young athletes, and Mwaruwari became famous because of Tshabangu.

In 1997, Mwaruwari played in Tshabangu's tournament. People saw how good he was. They wanted to know more about him.

Some thought Mwaruwari was from Bulawayo. But he had gone to play for a team in Chegutu. Teams offered a lot of money to sign him.

Tshabangu helped Mwaruwari move from Chegutu to bigger teams. Mwaruwari later won a big cup in England, becoming only the second Zimbabwean to do that.

"We lost a great man," said Mwaruwari. "He did so much good for Bulawayo."

The tournament in 1997 changed Mwaruwari's life. It helped many other players, too.

Tshabangu's body will go from South Africa to Bulawayo. He will be buried on Sunday. His family is thankful for all the support.

Tshabangu was a soccer star himself. He played for several teams. He leaves behind his wife and four children.
