Christians have accused Bishop Gaddie Akanjuna of unfair political involvement after he supported a candidate during church services. The Anglican Diocese of Kigezi leader told worshippers to vote for Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema during Sunday confirmation at Nyamweru Church. She said diocese leaders also endorsed Enid Origumisiriza against sitting MP Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira. Ankunda demanded a meeting with the bishop to discuss the matter. The candidate stressed her goal to serve people regardless of party membership.

Trust Kyomugisha warned that religious leaders supporting specific candidates could divide Christians and voters. The Kabale District resident plans to run as an independent candidate for Woman MP. Pierre Mbabazi Ntegyereize also condemned the bishop for political endorsements. He said religious motivation for political choices might promote weak leaders. Mbabazi argued that church officials should stay neutral and show unity rather than taking sides.
