The 2026 elections will be very competitive across Uganda. President Yoweri Museveni plans to run again and faces strong opposition groups. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu leads NUP and goes by the name Bobi Wine.

NUP became the top opposition party after the 2021 elections. The party wants more seats and has created better ways to check candidate qualifications. Uganda's election laws require certain education levels for different political jobs.
