Bobi Wine Eyes Uganda's Top Office Again.

Robert Kyagulanyi, known as Bobi Wine, plans to challenge President Yoweri Museveni in Uganda's 2026 election. The opposition leader shared his goals during a year-end message on Monday.

"Ask Museveni if he will accept defeat," Wine said. He stressed his commitment to serve in the fight for freedom.

This marks Wine's second run for president. He lost to Museveni in 2021 when official results showed him getting 35% of the votes. The ruling National Resistance Movement party claimed victory with 58%.

Wine rejected these numbers. His National Unity Platform party said their count of voting forms showed Wine won with 54.19%.

The opposition leader urged citizens, mostly young people, to join politics. "All of you with good thoughts for your country, get involved," he said. He warned that staying away from politics means others will make choices for them.

Wine pushed educated people and experts to step up. "If you don't join politics, your inferiors will govern you," he said.
