Bozhankov fears pro-Russian takeover as debt piles

PP-DB lawmaker Yavor Bozhankov warned that pro-Russian parties could gain majority control in Bulgaria despite current political tensions. He said the government accumulates debt rapidly, and critics will blame the euro for inflation after January. Bozhankov argued the ruling coalition ignores opposition proposals after observing its divided state, and he criticized officials for installing temporary appointees across government positions.

The legislator connected the Burgas flooding to illegal Black Sea construction despite warnings filed since 2009. PP-DB will seek higher penalties beyond the current fines, ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 leva. Bozhankov questioned military involvement in disaster response, and he said early warning systems failed. He noted that acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov remains politically useful, but temporary officials undermine state function.
