Brace for big police and DC moves as elections loom

Government officials plan to move police officers plus District Commissioners around Malawi very soon. People inside Homeland Security say these transfers will happen before the September elections. The government always does this right before voting time. They want trusted friends running police stations across the country. These transfers help politicians keep control during elections.

The government claims these changes improve service delivery for citizens. But many people think it's just political tricks. One official tried explaining that these moves ensure neutrality during voting. Civil society groups worry about these sudden changes happening right before elections. Political expert Griffin Maruwasa believes the government positions loyal supporters in key areas to influence voting results.

Similar reshuffles happened during previous elections with police station leaders. District Commissioners control local government activities where they serve. Neither the Ministry nor the Police have made official announcements about these plans. Insider reports suggest transfers might start in mid-April this year. Everyone watches nervously as these personnel changes threaten fair elections just five months away.
