Australia said they would consider bidding for the hosting rights back in June 2023. Morocco plans to team up with Spain and Portugal to host the event one year before they all work together for the World Cup. The meeting between Xaud and Infantino took place at the FIFA Executive Football Summit 2025 in Miami. Xaud became the new CBF president in May after replacing Ednaldo Rodrigues who lost his job because of a court decision.

Xaud called his conversation with Infantino an introductory chat about his goals as the federation leader. He told FIFA that Brazil wants a closer relationship and praised Brazilian clubs. Infantino seemed happy about the idea and said it could definitely happen. Brazil has four teams playing in the current 2025 Club World Cup.

Palmeiras, Flamengo, Fluminense and Botafogo all earned their spots by winning the Copa Libertadores between 2021 and 2025. The Brazilian league usually runs from March through December but stopped for a month because of the Club World Cup. South America has six clubs total competing in the tournament.
