A wild village drama in Makoni district ended with a guy getting fined cattle for knocking up his brother's wife. Itai Henderson took his relative, Prosper Musarika, to the traditional court of Chief Makoni, demanding eight cows as compensation after allegedly catching Musarika with his wife, Priscilla, in the bushes. Henderson claimed the affair wrecked his marriage, left his wife pregnant, and even forced him to sell his only ox to pay her family a bride price debt after she bounced. The chief ultimately ruled against Musarika, fining him three beasts and court fees. According to Henderson, the whole mess started with village whispers about his wife and Musarika. He says he stumbled upon them getting busy near the Witvlag area. After the confrontation, his wife allegedly fled to Harare, then tried moving in with Musarika until his own wife chased her off. Musarika’s defense was a complete denial at first, calling the claims nonsense and demanding proof. He framed their meetings as innocent, saying Priscilla just helped his wife with tobacco work and he once walked her home at dusk. He argued that any relationship began only after Henderson and Priscilla had already split. Chief Makoni was not buying the excuses, warning Musarika about lying to the court. The chief suggested waiting for a DNA test after the baby’s birth. Faced with that, Musarika finally copped to the relationship but insisted it was post-breakup. The chief found him guilty anyway, citing the severe cultural taboo of a brother betraying that trust. The ruling included one cow for the adultery itself, another for the resulting pregnancy, and a third for violating a familial protection duty, treating the brother's wife like a daughter. He also had to cover Henderson's ninety-dollar legal bill.
