Police arrested Kampala land broker Muhammad Kamoga for keeping land titles from a property fight in Entebbe. He appeared before High Court deputy registrar Christine Namutebi, who gave him one week to produce more than 30 missing land documents. These papers relate to a 2018 court agreement in which Kamoga should have given 45 land titles to Andrew Nganda Bugingo and 19 others. Court officers took Kamoga into custody Wednesday after he failed to follow previous orders. Kamoga first told the court through his lawyer, Moses Karungu, that he had already submitted all papers. He later changed his story and admitted having just one title deed with him. He asked the court for extra time to find the rest of the missing documents. Kamoga claimed he gave Bugingo's lawyer, Zack Olum, one title for eight acres of land. Bugingo has fought this case for over six years and feels frustrated with how slow the courts move. He called Kamoga a person who always cheats others. The judge ordered Kamoga to return on May 5 with every remaining land document. This marks just the latest problem for the land broker. Last month, he ran from police trying to arrest him for another fraud case about 200 acres in Garuga. Someone named Fredrick Ssengooba also sued Kamoga for over one billion shillings. Ssengooba says Kamoga wrongfully put land titles under his name instead of the rightful owners.
