A former bursar at Little Rock International School pleaded guilty Tuesday to stealing $289,997 in student fees. Tambudzai Majuru changed her plea amid mounting evidence during the trial.

The case revealed a scheme using fake receipt books to divert tuition payments from parents. Prosecutors say Majuru worked with executive principal Chamunorwa Gracious Dahwa to carry out the fraud.

Three state witnesses had testified before Majuru admitted guilt through her lawyer. Prosecutor Tafara Chirambira said the confession would help serve justice. The court scheduled sentencing for Friday.

Dahwa, 35, maintains his innocence on fraud and money laundering charges. The school's founder and director, Dr. Masimba Phillip Dahwa, filed a complaint against both staff members.

Court documents show the scheme ran from January 2021 through April 2024. The pair allegedly used duplicate receipt books to record student payments. They reported lower amounts in official records and kept the difference.

Investigators found Chamunorwa used stolen funds to build a mansion in Seke Village, Dema, under Chief Seke's jurisdiction. His trial continues separately from Majuru's case.
