The British Virgin Islands scored big with tourists flooding back to paradise during the second quarter of 2025. Premier Natalio Wheatley revealed the hot numbers during his Virgin Islands Voice broadcast. Tourist arrivals jumped a massive 13.8 percent compared to last year with 211,093 visitors hitting the islands. The figure smashed the previous year when only 185,558 people made the trip. Wheatley called the results very good news for the territory. Cruise ships packed with passengers delivered the biggest boost to the tourism boom. Cruise arrivals skyrocketed 25.2 percent to reach 120,889 visitors compared to just 96,554 last year. Day trippers also poured onto the islands with numbers climbing 45.5 percent from 4,030 to 5,865 people. Overnight guests dropped slightly to 84,339 from the previous 84,974 visitors. The decline amounted to less than one percent of total overnight stays. The first half of 2025 brought 707,418 total arrivals to the British Virgin Islands. The figure represents a solid 3.6 percent increase over the 683,114 recorded during the same period last year. Day trippers led the charge with a whopping 52.4 percent jump while overnight tourists climbed 3.1 percent. Cruise passengers also contributed with modest growth reaching 504,665 from 490,168 arrivals. Wheatley stressed that tourism creates jobs and generates tax money for community projects while urging everyone to keep the momentum rolling.
