Chamisa on Zimbabwe Losing Its Bright Minds

Nelson Chamisa is really upset about Zimbabwe losing its smartest people to other countries. Every day for twenty years, he has watched talented Zimbabweans leave home to find better jobs elsewhere. This morning, he got four more calls from professionals planning to move away. He shared these thoughts on X, which many people still call Twitter. He described how painful it feels to wake up each day and hear from another person desperate to escape the country.

These calls make him sad because people ask for help finding ways to leave Zimbabwe. They believe life must be better somewhere else. The country keeps losing the exact talent it spent money to educate and develop. Instead of making Zimbabwe stronger, these skilled workers strengthen foreign economies. Chamisa calls this situation devastating because the country continues bleeding away its most valuable resource - young, educated professionals.

He blames everyone involved in running the country. Any serious leadership would stop this talent drain immediately. A successful nation cannot thrive when its brightest minds all live somewhere else. Chamisa points out how common it has become for citizens to seek opportunities abroad because they believe conditions seem better in other places. He argues that Zimbabwe itself should offer the best opportunities for its people, not just for a lucky few with connections.

The former opposition leader wants all Zimbabweans to work together to fix their economy. He believes they must create conditions that help businesses grow, offer good job options, and encourage new ideas. Only then can they end the terrible talent loss that has hurt their country for decades. He wants to build a Zimbabwe where people feel excited to stay and contribute rather than desperate to leave. The current situation benefits nobody except a small group at the top.
