Security Guard Kills Chef at Kampala Bar During Farewell Party.

A 28-year-old chef died in a shooting outside Queen's Mall Tula Bar in Kawempe early Tuesday morning, police said.

Sharif Ssekajugo was celebrating his farewell party before returning to his job in Qatar. The event ended in tragedy when a security guard shot him at 4 a.m.

Several fights broke out inside the bar during the party. Ssekajugo became upset with how security handled these incidents, said Luke Owoyesigire, Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson.

Ssekajugo went outside to speak with security staff. He pushed one guard during an argument. The guard then shot him in the back as he walked away.

Police arrested two Promace Security Company guards: Alex Akampurira, the alleged shooter, and Clever Nuwahereza. Officers found two guns at the scene - one with two bullets and another with one bullet.

"This incident could have been avoided," Owoyesigire said, citing alcohol and anger as factors.

Medical staff took Ssekajugo's body to City Mortuary Mulago for examination. Police gathered witness statements and collected evidence from the suspects.

The firearms await testing at a police lab. Authorities plan to charge the shooter after they finish their investigation.

Ssekajugo's wife, Hellen Amongin, attended the party with him and witnessed the shooting.
