A man from Chipinge got life behind bars for killing a teenage house worker last year. Fanuel Ndapota beat 19-year-old Purity Mlambo to death with a bicycle part at her workplace. A young witness heard groaning sounds around nine at night and saw Ndapota looking through the dining room window. The killer held a metal object and chased the boy away before running from the scene.

The witness found Mlambo lying on her bed with blood coming from her ear and mouth. Her pants had been pulled down and her phone was missing from the room. Police found pink sandals and a grey work coat that Ndapota left behind during his escape. Officers caught him near Save River with help from local people.

Ndapota helped detectives find the stolen phone buried at his home and the murder weapon hidden in a bucket. He told police exactly how he committed the crime and showed them what happened at the scene. The court heard that Mlambo may have been sexually attacked before or after the beating. Justice Isaac Muzenda sentenced the 38-year-old killer after finding him guilty of murder.
