[QUOTE="Nehanda, post: 23812, member: 2262"] CIB Kenya Names Abhinav Nehra as New CEO. NAIROBI - Commercial International Bank (CIB) Kenya has appointed Abhinav Nehra as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. Nehra fills the position previously held by Daphne Maina in an acting capacity since December 2023, following the departure of Hossam Rageh. Nehra, appointed in April 2024, received approval from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) last week. He brings over three decades of banking and payments experience across Africa, Asia, and other emerging markets. CIB Kenya Board Chairman Tom Gitogo praised Nehra as a proven leader with an unparalleled track record of driving growth and innovation. "His expertise and strategic vision are exactly what CIB Kenya needs to deliver value to our clients and achieve our ambitious goals," Gitogo said. "We are confident he will steer the bank toward a new era of success." The appointment comes as CIB Kenya seeks to strengthen its position in the competitive banking sector and enhance its offerings to customers. The lender aims to leverage trade between Kenyan exports to Egypt to grow its regional operations. CIB Kenya found a new direction four years ago after Commercial International Bank (CIB) Egypt acquired Mayfair Bank in Kenya. CIB Bank Kenya is a subsidiary of CIB Egypt, one of the country's leading private financial institutions. Since entering the Kenyan market in 2020, CIB Kenya has been steadily growing its footprint by focusing on retail and corporate banking. Nehra has held key leadership roles at prestigious organizations globally, including CitiGroup, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Network International, and Ecobank Transnational. Throughout his career, Nehra has spearheaded transformational initiatives in digital banking, consumer finance, digital lending, and payments that have reshaped markets and driven growth. "I am honored to join CIB Kenya and excited to lead the bank into its next phase of growth," Nehra said. "Together with the talented team here, we will focus on delivering innovative solutions."
