Coldplay brought back a song they had given up on during their recent concert in El Paso. The British band performed Speed of Sound for the first time since 2016 at the Sun Bowl venue. Chris Martin told the crowd they made the X&Y album twenty years ago and felt it should have been much better. The singer explained that Speed of Sound was a track they rarely played because something felt wrong about it. Martin said audiences could sense when a song was missing its spark. The band had to delay their show for fifteen minutes because of bad weather conditions. Speed of Sound was actually Coldplay's first song to reach the top ten on American music charts back in 2005. The track peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Martin later admitted to reporters that the band never got the song right and stopped playing it during live shows. The acoustic version they performed marked a special moment for the group. Martin said they wanted to try fixing the song after having such a good time with their El Paso fans. The band hopes this new approach will help them reclaim Speed of Sound for future performances. Meanwhile, British artist Yungblud released his new album today with a song called Ghosts. Some people think the piano part sounds similar to Speed of Sound. Representatives for Yungblud deny any connection between the two tracks.
