Yusuf Serunkuma Kajura wrote a new book. He often writes for a newspaper called The Observer. His new book discusses how Western countries still take advantage of Africa even though African countries are no longer colonies. Mr. Serunkuma says that powerful countries like the United States and those in Europe find sneaky ways to control Africa. They use ideas like democracy, human rights, and free markets to trick Africans. But he thinks these ideas actually hurt Africa instead of helping. The book says that when Western countries give money to Africa, they take back way more than they give. Mr. Serunkuma believes Africa has lost a huge amount of money this way. He also blames some African leaders. He says they often help Western countries instead of their people. These leaders let foreign companies take Africa's valuable resources. They make deals that keep their countries poor. The book discusses the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) extensively. These groups made African countries sell their assets, such as banks and mines, causing many job losses. The same big foreign companies that run the World Bank and IMF bought these businesses and used them to take even more money out of Africa. Mr. Serunkuma says Africa will never be truly free until Africans make all their decisions. He wants African thinkers to stop staying in their offices and universities and go out and lead their people to fight against this new kind of colonialism. This new book joins many others that Mr. Serunkuma has written. For 50,000 shillings, it can be bought in certain bookstores in Kampala, Uganda, or on the internet. The author has a special degree called a PhD. He studied Social-Cultural Anthropology at a university in Germany.
