[QUOTE="Munyaradzi Mafaro, post: 45113, member: 636"] Education leaders met Friday to plan free college money for students with disabilities. Minister Haruna Iddrisu asked the team to create a plan that helps disabled people go to university without paying fees. The meeting happened at the Education Ministry building on June 20th where eight committee members talked about the new program. Deputy Education Minister Dr. Clement Apaak leads the group with disability advocate Joseph Atsu Hormadzi. Dr. Apaak told everyone that his department wants all students to have equal chances at learning. He promised the government will keep President Mahama's word about giving free higher education to people with disabilities. Mr. Hormadzi thanked the president for caring about disabled students who cannot afford school costs. He explained that many young people with disabilities cannot pay university bills and fees. Students must pay money before they can sign up for classes but disabled people often lack funds for education. The disability leader said many students feel stuck because they cannot raise enough cash for college. He praised the president and education officials for starting this committee to help solve the problem. The group will figure out how disabled students can attend university without worrying about money. Dr. Saajida Shiraz from the Students' Loan Trust came to the meeting with her team. She talked about ways to give better money support to disabled college students. The committee will continue working to make higher education free for all people with disabilities across Ghana.
