Road Project on Track for 2025 Completion, Contractor Says.

Cornerstone Construction has promised to finish the Lot 2 road project by its deadline. The announcement came during a site visit by the Minister of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure.

Engineer Jonas Agymang from Cornerstone Construction spoke to reporters at Reneru Wollof. He said work began in 2023 on the 50-kilometer project. The routes connect Karantaba, Reneru, Tabanani, Demfaya, and Fitu Fulla.

The Karantaba-Reneru section shows major progress with finished concrete structures. At Laminkoto, crews have started earthworks at the base level, and concrete work begins this week.

"The project moves forward well without major challenges," Agymang said. He expects completion by mid-2025.

The company has launched several community programs, including drilling water boreholes and feeding local residents. The project created jobs for 32 casual workers and employs 75 non-key staff members, 40 of whom come from nearby areas. The company donated a pickup truck to help police patrol Njau.

Residents praised the company's efforts. "This has brought big relief to us and our cattle," said Yassin Bah, describing the new water access. Marie Ceesay thanked the company for helping young people and providing community supplies.

The construction firm aims to complete both the road project and its community support programs on schedule.
