A judge canceled the election results for Kawempe Division North after finding major problems with the voting process. This left huge numbers of people without a voice in choosing their leader.

The Electoral Commission must organize a completely new election for the district. Each political party will pay its legal costs from the court case. This marks the second time courts have thrown out election results for this same seat. Muhammad Ssegirinya lost his position through a similar court action back in 2021. The commission will announce dates for the fresh voting within weeks.
