A judge made police take action against political party leaders who trashed a rival group's headquarters. The court forced cops to open a criminal case against Gono Odhikar Parishad members who attacked Jatiya Party's building. Two top bosses from the accused party face serious charges under fast-track trial rules. Nurul Haque Nur runs the national organization and Rashed Khan serves as his deputy. Both men must answer for the messy incident that happened last month. Party members smashed up the Jatiya Party office on Fakirbari Road during a nighttime raid. The attack took place on May 31st when angry activists stormed the building and destroyed property inside. Victims tried filing police reports right after the violence but officers turned them away. MA Jalil from the damaged party took his complaint straight to court instead. The frustrated lawyer had to fight just to get authorities to listen. The judge ordered Kotwali Police Station's top officer to treat the complaint as a real case. Court papers arrived at the station around 11am on Thursday morning. A duty officer named SI Dolly signed for the important documents. The legal papers list dozens of suspects from the attacking party. District leaders HM Shamim Reza and HM Hasan face charges along with city boss Farhad Hossain. Farhad Hossain claims his group knows nothing about any court case. The accused politician says they will fight the charges through proper legal channels. Police chief Mizanur Rahman admits his station has not received the court order yet. Officers expect to get the paperwork soon from their duty staff. The case could spell trouble for the political organization's leadership.
