A judge just blocked attempts to fire Kenya's top prosecutor, Renson Igonga. Judge Bahati Mwamuye stepped in after a group called "Sheria Mtaani" asked the court for help. This stops the Public Service Commission from deciding whether to remove the Director of Public Prosecutions from his job. The trouble started when businessman Hussein Amaro complained about Igonga. He claimed the prosecutor acted wrongly by trying to drop a case about death threats against him. These threats reportedly came from a woman he used to date. Lawyer Danstan Omari defended the prosecutor, saying Igonga can legally stop any criminal case before a judge makes a final decision. Omari told the court that stopping the case made sense because people were trying to settle the matter privately. He pointed out that a judge had already refused to drop the case anyway. This means the case of the original threat must continue forward despite what the prosecutor wanted. The court battle between Amaro and the prosecutor remains active. Judge Mwamuye ordered Sheria Mtaani to deliver court papers to everyone involved right away. All parties must file their answers by March 28. The judge scheduled April 9 as the next court date. On that day, he'll check if everyone followed his instructions about the paperwork.
