Rutendo threatened to set fire to Ratidzai's house if she refused to give up her husband. She hurled insults at Ratidzai over their shared relationship with the same man. Rutendo did not deny the affair when asked to respond in court.

Magistrate Meenal Naratom ordered Rutendo to stop verbally abusing and hitting Ratidzai. Rutendo told Ratidzai she must either accept sharing her husband or leave him. Their family relationship became very strained because of this situation. The court heard how Rutendo called Ratidzai names. The magistrate stepped in to protect Ratidzai from further harm.
