Robbers also stole 600,000 Saudi Riyals from a money trader at Tejgaon on Tuesday evening.

Police sources blame the crime wave on officers who stopped working properly after last year's political violence. Criminals have attacked police 435 times since January. Many officers from the previous government are dragging their feet on duty. Crime expert Dr Tawohidul Haque says criminals act when they think they can escape punishment.
