Zimbabwe needs to use everything it has gained since ending colonial rule in 1980 to improve its people's lives. The country should protect its citizens, stand up for what matters nationally, and keep pushing back against powerful foreign pressure. Cuba strongly believes in this path forward. Their ambassador to Zimbabwe, Susellys Perez Meza, made these points clear during recent talks. Cuba jumped at the chance to work with Zimbabwe from the start. Just two days after Zimbabwe celebrated independence on April 20, 1980, Cuba established official relations. They immediately began supporting Zimbabwe by improving schools and medical care throughout the nation. This partnership has remained strong for decades. The ambassador explained that Cuba will never walk away from Zimbabwe. She described their relationship as a brotherhood where both countries defend each other when times get tough. They stand together against bigger nations that try to push them around with unfair rules and restrictions. President Mnangagwa earned praise from Cuba for his vocal support. He publicly rejected the United States' decision to label Cuba a terrorism sponsor and spoke out against the trade blockade America has kept on Cuba since 1962. His actions demonstrate that Cuba has real allies who speak up. That American blockade creates huge problems for Cuba every single day. It blocks around $14 million daily that Cuban people desperately need. These restrictions violate the basic human rights that all Cubans deserve, just like everyone else around the world. Zimbabwe understands this struggle firsthand. America placed sanctions on Zimbabwe back in December 2001. Both nations face these one-sided punishments that make normal development much harder. They share this common challenge against powerful forces. President Mnangagwa has firmly rejected these unfair measures against both countries. He demands that international bodies remove Cuba from false terrorism lists. The ambassador expressed deep gratitude for his leadership in fighting these harmful policies on the world stage.
