This all went down right before ex-IPID boss Robert McBride took the hot seat to spill tea on messed-up cops and shady political meddling.

The whole committee is digging into claims made by police bigwig Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi from KwaZulu-Natal. McBride shared his piece on how investigations get tampered with. The goal is to figure out if the justice system is totally compromised.

EFF head Julius Malema wasn't even there, dealing with his own court stuff. Other faces in the room included DA guy Ian Cameron and ANC chief whip Mdumiseni Ntuli. The chairperson, Soviet Lekganyane, had to play referee.

They still have to hear from a bunch of other people, like a suspended Ekurhuleni deputy police chief named Julius Mkhwanazi and some businessman called Brown Mogotsi. Even that investigator, Paul O'Sullivan, might video call in from London. The whole thing might actually lead to some new rules for police oversight, but who knows?
