President John Dramani Mahama picked Dr. Edward Omane Boamah as Defense Minister on January 21, 2025. The medical expert replaced Mr. Dominic Nitiwul from the previous government. President Mahama named him spokesperson after the December 2012 election. As Communications Minister, Boamah focused on protecting children online through national safety programs. He served on the Ghana AIDS Commission board and helped with WHO immunization programs. The former Defence Ministry civilian worker strongly supports military welfare. His negotiation skills help him address modern security challenges as Defence Minister.
