Resolution Games will launch Demeo x DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Battlemarked later this year. The digital fantasy tabletop game comes to PC, PlayStation 5, and VR platforms like SteamVR, Meta Horizon, and PSVR2. The new title takes place within the Forgotten Realms setting. The company previously created the original Demeo game. This latest version adds much more story content than before. Company founder Tommy Palm explained how they changed their approach for the D&D version. Past Demeo games focused mainly on tactical battles rather than deep storytelling. The new game balances combat with narrative elements through dramatic scenes, better dialogue, and meaningful player decisions. These changes represent the next step forward for their Action Roleplaying System. The team wanted to match the storytelling traditions that make D&D special. Resolution Games brought on Matt Sernett to lead story development. Sernett worked as a designer for the actual D&D tabletop game and helped create classic video games like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale. He also contributed to Bungie's Destiny 2 more recently. His experience spans both traditional tabletop gaming and modern video game narratives. The hire shows how seriously the studio takes storytelling for this project. Sernett revealed that Battlemarked adventures begin in Neverwinter Wood, the same starting area from D&D's fifth edition launch in 2014. Players will explore familiar places like Cragmaw Castle and Mount Hotenow. The world itself becomes part of the story experience. Another D&D game is also coming from Giant Skull, led former God of War director Stig Asmussen. That separate title will be a single-player action adventure.
