A court found private investigator Tafadzwa Chidawa guilty of kidnapping a woman from Harare. Magistrate Tapiwa Banda made the decision after hearing all the evidence during the trial. The court cleared Chidawa of other charges like pretending to be someone else and attacking people. He must pay 200 US dollars before July 14 or face jail time. The victim works as a director at Jaimy Technologies and her name is Shallom Gandiya. Prosecutor Dzidzai Josiah showed that Chidawa grabbed Gandiya on March 5 last year. Lazarus James helped with the crime and he was dating Gandiya at the time. The men forced her into their car and drove around with her for five hours. They finally left her at Harare Central Police Station with fake paperwork. The criminals claimed they had a real police case number from Gweru. Officers at the police station checked the paperwork and found it was false. Gandiya could not leave or go anywhere for those five hours against her will. She had done nothing wrong to deserve this treatment. The woman reported the crime to police after they released her. Courts take kidnapping cases seriously because people have the right to move freely.
