The ten-year-old daughter of Detective Constable Cassandra Hove wrote a heartbreaking letter to her mom after she died from suspected friendly fire. This letter made many people cry when they heard it. The child wrote to her mother, hoping the message would reach her in Heaven. The Saturday Chronicle has seen this touching letter that shows the personal tragedy behind the news stories. Her daughter wrote about how she never thought this day would come. She mentioned how her mom had posted on social media, wanting to see her grow up. She begged her mom to come back because she felt she couldn't live without her. When someone read this letter at the funeral, everyone broke down crying. The little girl talked honestly about their relationship in ways that hit everyone hard emotionally. She wrote about playing cards together and how she used to feel sad and cry. She called her mother the best in the whole world and said she wanted to see her because her death made her cry. The letter ended with Rest in peace, Mom. This powerful letter has helped push the family's demands for a clear investigation into exactly how Detective Hove died. During her funeral at Nyaradzo Funeral Parlour last Sunday, emotions ran high. Family members yelled at police officers who attended. They kept asking if her death happened by accident or on purpose. Police first said she died during a shootout with armed robbers in Bulawayo's Pumula South suburb during a secret operation. Later information revealed another officer likely shot her instead of the robbers. Police reports say she got shot in her upper arms around 8:40 PM last Thursday. Someone rushed her to a nearby private clinic, where doctors declared her dead when she arrived. The case became suspicious after her family raised questions about her death. They started asking who sent officers to Pumula South and who approved her autopsy. The family complained nobody involved them and expressed shock when they learned someone else signed hospital papers as her closest relative. Detective Constable Hove was 37 years old when she died and leaves behind four children. Police Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba has ordered a full investigation into what happened. He promised the family they would check everything carefully and make sure justice happens for Detective Hove.
